Malaysia - East Coast

Terengganu

This city is located at the Terengganu River and is the capitol of the State Terengganu. The city is located a mere 20 minutes drive away from the airport, but when you arrive by car it will be your second stop at the East coast.
In front of Kuala Terengganu, right in the South China Sea are the islands Pulau Kapas and Pulau Rendang. The islands are renowned for its clear waters, sandy white beaches and swaying palms. Home to an infinite variety of hard and soft corals, the waters around the islands are abound with sea-shells, fish and turtles. The islands laid back atmosphere is ideal for relaxation but the more adventurous will find it is also a haven for swimming, snorkelling, windsurfing, kayaking, boating and fishing.

Kota Bhara

Kota Bhara Kota Bharu is a real typical Malaysian city. It's still so pure.
Kota Bharu means "new city", and this serene and peaceful town offers both rich tradition and some magnificent natural wonders. Life here proceeds at a leisurely pace, and the time-honored tranquility of this unique locale is well worth discovering.
Some people think, that Kota Bharu is worth only a stay of one night! Don't do that. I think it's the nicest city, that you'll find at the East Coast. There is so much to do and to see in and out of the city.
Don't stay only in the city, but make trips into the surroundings. You'll find wonderful temples, large Buddha's, which is peculiar because there are more than 30 Buddhist temples throughout Kelantan. Mostly near the Thai border. This is a surprising number considering Muslims make up 95 per cent of the population. Explore the beautiful caves. Make a boat trip up the river, which departs in Kuala Krai.

Redang

Redang

Redang is just like the Perhentian a Marine Park. It's located 45 km off the coast of Kuala Terengganu is the largest of the group of islands dotting the South China Sea off the Terengganu coast. The island offers crystal clear waters and numerous dive sites for the enthusiast. Sheltered within the Pulau Redang Marine Park, the waters here abound with marine life.
Redang Archipelago exists of 9 islands that abound with marvelous marine fishes, turtles and coral reefs that ensure great snorkeling and scuba-diving.
The boat trip starts from the fishing village of Merang. This is a fishing village North of Kuala Terengganu. You can get there by bus. The boat trip takes about 40 minutes. Most of the boats depart for Redang and return before noon. Each resort has its own boat transfer schedule. This may change and is dependent on the tide, sea and weather conditions.
The best time to visit Redang is between April and October. Take note that most resorts are closed during the North-east Monsoon, which blows from November to March.

Tanjong Jara Resort

Tanjong Jara Resort sits facing the South China Sea and boasts a beautiful shoreline of palm-fringed golden sand. Inspired by 17th century Malay palaces, the Resort blends elegantly with its surrounding landscape and has earned the Aga Khan Award for Architecture. The only thing more wonderful than the design of the hotel is the natural beauty of the location, ranging from pristine beaches to exotic jungle wildlife. Along with a wide variety of activities for children, the warm hospitality of the Resort contributes to its relaxed family atmosphere. Explore delicate coral reefs teeming with rich marine life (March-October), discover the natural charms of sleepy fishing villages or indulge in traditional Malay spa treatments at the award-winning Spa Village.
